[Good old-fashioned snail mail! Naoto will get a reply right away.]
Shirogane-san,
That's actually very useful to know! I know of some ancient temples in Min'To, Myste Aura and Oktavia, and with Bahamut's temple being in Sen Devadatta, one Eidolon in each of the five nations would make sense. I haven't been able to find anything in Safer yet, but it's good to have confirmation that we're on the right track.
I spoke with Ramuh about Bahamut's summoning earlier. Didn't have any luck learning anything about the other four, though. I'll give Shiva a try soon and let you know how it goes.
[Sometimes, the old tried and true when technology has... issues.]
Toneido-san,
It's possible the shrine isn't located in the Republic. Worst case scenario places us out in the snowfields or further into the uncharted region of the continent. However, I could ask around Tark Varentain - more specially, I could ask individuals at the Gunslinger Guild. As well, there is Cloud City. It might not be located on land necessarily, but it is not in the sea either.
I see. I had been hoping Ramuh might know a fair amount, but there may have been limitations set upon them by the Legendary Eidolons. Anyway, looking forward to your correspondence after you speak with Shiva.
I'm sorry to say my attempt with Shiva was a bit of a bust. I don't know whether she didn't have any answers or if I just went about it the wrong way, but she pretty much ignored my questions about the Legendary Eidolons. The only subject she addressed was why she lives in Myste Aura: apparently the North has already been claimed by someone she doesn't want to challenge.
I thought it best not to press the matter and risk annoying her. Not much of a talker, that one. Or perhaps she just takes longer to warm up to a new summoner, being an ice goddess and all. Whatever the case, it looks like we'll have to look elsewhere for now.
That's unfortunate, but that's a point will have to consider in the future when speaking to the Eidolons. We'll have to put forth the effort into befriending them before inquiring about anything they might find necessary to withhold.
Still, 'the North has already been claimed'. That's most likely the Legendary Eidolon present there already. Part of me doubts it would be Phoenix, but of the other three, who do you believe might be there?
You're right, of course. It's difficult to be patient when we're on a time limit, but we don't have much of a choice.
As for who might be in the North, it's hard to say. Other than Asura, none of their titles point to a location, and even Feymarch could be just about anywhere. If my guess is correct and the Great McGard Library is built on one of the shrines, I could see it housing Zodiark, the Keeper of Precepts, which would leave Asura or Alexander in the north. That's all just speculation at this point, though.
Mind you, I'm not sure the proximity of a Legendary would necessarily be a deterrent to the other Eidolons. Assuming there is indeed a shrine on each main continent, that would make them all equally intimidating places to live if that were the case. Shiva could have also been talking about Hades; the book we got from Kupoto places him in "the barren north." I don't know if he'd be powerful enough to scare her off, but it's a possibility.
This is all very true, and it's unlikely for the Eidolons to tell us immediately about where the Feymarch might be located if it remains in one location at all. We should look into the Great McGard Library soon then and concern ourselves with exploration of Myste Aura after.
It's possible, but the mountains of Myste Aura are not so barren. If any place is, it would likely be the Claus Snowfield and beyond where whiteouts and snow is frequent. I'm concerned what may have driven Shiva from her original territory might be another usurper like Ultros with Leviathan. And if that is the case, what power does it hold that she does not fight to take her favorite lands back?
There is actually a place in Myste Aura that could be a potential shrine location as well. The Mad'ni Shrine is said to have been built on the ruins of an ancient temple and was traditionally used as a site for purification rituals. I could ask Sylvarie how we might go about getting permission to investigate. There's also the I.B. Magitek Tower in Oktavia, but I admit I'm less familiar with that area.
Claus Snowfield is what I was referring to -- sorry if I wasn't clear! But yes, I agree. If it's powerful enough to frighten an Eidolon, it's probably bad news for us... or good news, if we can get it on our side. Either way, it might be wise to delay searching there until we're a little stronger.
I've heard of the Mad'ni Shrine, and you may be onto something. I believe there are a few who still tend to it despite it being publicly considered 'abandoned' so that could possibly be our way inside. As for the I.B. Magitek Tower, I'll ask about it. Again, between the Gunslinger Guild and the Airfield, someone might know.
It's quite alright. Things can be easily lost in communication. I concur on your thoughts, and suggest perhaps taking parties who've mastered more than one or two Asterisks might be ideal for any explorations in case. Of course, this means moving any ventures further into the future and this preparation may need to be forgone due to time restraints.
